Three versions of the same girl on one white page, the way character designers lay out a model sheet.
The big figure on the left stands with a hand on her hip, teeth clenched and an angry vein on her forehead. Her bubble reads “You are dating a Weasley, Potter!? A Weasley!?” and a smaller note beside her mutters “I would’ve dated you out of pity if I knew you were that desperate…” She wears the full Slytherin uniform: green-lined robe, striped tie, grey jumper with the house crest, pleated skirt and black stockings, plus the hoop earrings that almost every Malfoid artist kept.
At the top right she rests her chin on her hand, blushing and sulking, with a scribble of frustration over her head and the word pout written next to her face. The line is “My father will hear about this!!”, the Draco threat fans know from the films.
The bottom right is a faded sketch. She sits with her legs crossed, smirking: “Training for the ballet, Potter?” Her thought bubble says “You look cute”, with cute crossed out and pathetic written over it.
In the crossed-out word. Every other line on the sheet is an insult, and the one correction tells you none of them are meant. The masoq Malfoid is jealous of a Weasley, not disgusted by one.
The ballet line is borrowed too. redteneri used it in a drawing three days earlier, and Kekel0212 put it on a sheet of Draco quotes on September 27. By the time masoq posted, it was already a shared line, which is how a meme starts behaving like one.
It arrived on September 29, the day Malfoid first hit X’s trending list, and it gave the character a range: angry, sulky and smug in one image. It is the second most-liked drawing in our fan art gallery, behind only the drawing that started it. Two days later masoq095 followed it with the golden trio comic.
